WHAT TO EXPECT

Flat Track Derby Training

STEP ONE

ORIENTATION

Join us for a New Skater Orientation.  We are recruiting new and returning skaters to our San Diego roller derby programs.  No experience necessary.  Attend our next no-cost informational orientation and see a derby scrimmage in-person and find more about the Derby United programs.

Want to attend a free info session?  Scroll to the bottom of this page and fill out the inquiry form to receive communications about our next monthly orientation.

STEP TWO

PRACTICES

Newer to skating?  Still brushing up on the basics?  We recommend all skaters start at Learn + Return to Skate recreational instructed class at Derby United. Once you have passed all of those skills or if you already have mastery of basic skating sills, you’ll head to Roller Derby 101 to get the fundamentals of derby skate skills down.  Next you’ll head to 151 to learn more about full contact roller.  Finally you’ll make your way to 201 and can also start attending SoCal (WFTA) or CalSquad (gender inclusive) practices as well.

STEP THREE

PLAY IN ROLLER DERBY BOUTS

Once you’ve gained mastery of the skills and rules of the game, you are ready to start playing roller derby!  You’ll have the option of playing with one or more of our programs at Derby United with games bi-monthly on both the banked and flat tracks.  You’ll be out there playing full contact roller derby for a screaming crowd of fans!

STEP FOUR

FEEL AMAZING

You will be a full on roller derby player. You will gain new confidence and strength you never knew you had.  You will feel like a total super hero.   You will be a part of a world wide community of derby players.  Your life will be forever changed.
